Seashore Turns 85!
July 6 - July 7
Celebrate Seashore’s 85th Birthday with us! On July 5, 1939, Seashore Trolley Museum became the world’s first electric railway museum. To celebrate, we have special activities planned for Saturday and Sunday July 6 & 7, including:
Saturday, July 6 10AM: Walking Tour: Early Seashore Days. Join our Education Coordinator John Mercurio on a walking tour of the original ten acres acquired by the founding members of Seashore in 1939 to place Biddeford & Saco No. 31. Learn about various activities that took place in Seashore’s early years, uses of current buildings back then, and the location and uses of former buildings.
Saturday, July 6 12PM: Happy 100th Birthday Wheeling No. 639! Celebrate with us in South Boston Carhouse. Bring a birthday card, a photo you’ve taken of the car at Seashore, or a photo in your collection of 639 in service to add to a temporary exhibit celebrating the car’s 100 years. Treats will be served!
Sunday, July 7 10AM-1PM: Behind-the-Scenes Restoration Shop Tours, led by Scott Hooper.
More 85th Anniversary fun is planned for Labor Day Weekend; check out what we have in store, HERE.
