First Responder Appreciation Weekend at Seashore
June 26 - June 27
First Responder Appreciation Weekend at Seashore gives us an opportunity to say, “thank you” to the women and men that are there for us at tough times. If a crisis situation requires police, fire or medical personnel they’re there for us. First Responders also deal with situations that are not catastrophes but they are uniquely trained for. These people stand ready to place themselves in harm’s way whenever, wherever and however they are needed. We are more keenly aware of this in recent months with the pandemic that has swept the world.
Yes, these can be heavy times. All the more important that we make an opportunity to step back for a day or two and recognize those that stand ready to help. First Responder Appreciation Weekend at Seashore is one of those opportunities. To show our gratitude to all First Responders, they will enjoy free admission to the museum on either day, June 26 or 27. If you are a First Responder come and accept our thanks. If you are not a First Responder but are here and recognize one in our midst, express your gratitude. They have earned it.
As an added bonus, on First Responder Appreciation Weekend at Seashore our Pump Car will be available for short excursions. For $2 per person you can operate this car under the trained eye of one of our museum staff. We dedicate a section of track to this activity to provide a safe and enjoyable experience. You can enjoy a ride that is not easily duplicated. Your nominal fee helps fund the ongoing efforts of the museum. Put your responder fitness to the test by plying your strength and energy to the handle of the pump car. Could we have a time trial… police women vs. firemen? You can never be sure. You won’t know if you don’t show.
