Order Details
2022-5
1. Due to the age of the car and the current condition in areas of our mainline track, to minimize flexing of the car’s 121-year-old wooden frame, Car 303 will be limited to 10 mile per hour for the entire length of the main line.
2. Car 303 is not to be used in BAM service.
2022-4
The Highwood-Central turnout may be used by streetcars DEAD SLOW. Moves of heavier equipment must be observed by personnel on the ground. (The clamp requires a 2″ wrench.)
2022-3
The Main Line is in service with a 15 MPH speed restriction and a 3 MPH restriction across the repaired culvert south of Tower 2. Operators shall check track alignment over culvert & condition of the embankment slopes on either side when approaching culvert.
2022-2
Two sheared bolts have been repaired in West rail North of section break between Meserve’s and Stop Sign. The joint is painted orange. Until rail anchors are installed, Inspection Trips must stop and confirm that the bolts are intact. Stop at the yellow pipe to avoid stopping with your pole on the line break.
2022-1
Book order 2021-5 which amended Rule 20.2.H, remains in effect. The text of order 2021-5 is below my signature. The original text has been amended by updating the Signal Department’s signature to the current Superintendent of Signals.
In concert with and at the request of the signal department, Rule 20.2.H in the Paddle System Section (VII) of the Rule Book is amended as follows:
- Rule 20.2.H shall become Rule 20.2.H.1.
- Rule 20.2.H.1 shall read as follows (with changes from current Rule 20.2.H marked):
When passing a work party on the Main Line, the Motorman MUST show the paddle to the workers so they know if cars are following. When the work party gives the “proceed” hand signal, respond with two bells, and pass at slow speed. If the work crew does not respond STOP except as allowed by Rule 20.2.H.2.
- Rule 20.2.H.2 is added and shall read as follows:
When the work party is one or more signal maintainers who are A.) not impinging upon the Main Line and B.) not able or choose not to give the “proceed” hand signal, proceed at SLOW speed ringing the bell (NOT the horn) until the head of the car has passed the workers. If there is any doubt on the safety of passing the signal crew, the conductor shall disembark and protect the movement through the work area.
