Seashore Trolley Museum is open to the general public! We are following Maine’s pandemic operating provisions for Guided Outdoor Activities, Museums, Attractions, Transportation, Outdoor Events, and Retail Businesses.

All COVID-negative guests not currently experiencing symptoms or quarantining due to exposure that reside in states cleared by the CDC to travel are welcome to visit at this time.

Your ticket is good all day! We are open from 10AM-5PM. Take more than one trolley ride if your group successfully follows our COVID-19 policies on the first ride and other groups aren’t waiting to board. Explore our outdoor campus, collections and displays before and/or after your scheduled ride. Bring a picnic lunch to enjoy!

Trolleys depart from our Visitors Center boarding platform at 10:10AM, 10:50AM, 11:35AM, 12:20PM, 1:05PM, 1:50PM, 2:35PM, 3:20PM, and 4:05PM.

By visiting our campus, you and all other members in your group agree to the following:

All guests in your group shall maintain a distance of 6 feet between individuals from other groups and our volunteer conductors to the degree possible. Measures have been put in place (tape, dividers, etc.) to help you maintain physical distancing while you’re visiting us, but it’s up to group members to follow them.

Seashore Trolley Museum is open!

Following Maine state protocols, visiting guests must wear face coverings at all times, including while participating on trolley rides on our heritage railroad. If you or a member/s of your group are not able to wear a face covering due to a health condition, we ask that you do not visit the museum at this time and wait to visit until we are able to change our face covering policies.

Ticketholders can receive refunds up to 24 hours before the event start date. Following this timeline, tickets will be nonrefundable.

Children two and under are free. There is no online ticket available for this age level due to the service fees that are added when purchasing online (meaning a free ticket wouldn’t be free anymore). A boarding pass will be issued to children two and under upon arrival. All tickets may be redeemed at the Museum Store, located inside the Visitors Center.

Three trolley display carhouses are open to guests this season. Guest are welcome to explore the transit artifacts within these carhouses at their own risk; due to limited volunteer support during the pandemic, the artifacts in our carhouses are not disinfected regularly. Hand sanitizer will be available for guests in Riverside and Highwood Carhouses.

At this time, we are unsure if we will be opening our Restoration Shop gallery to guests. We anticipate that we will decide day-by-day, as success around vaccination efforts continues and COVID-19 cases decline.

When these trolleys were built and originally operated in the early 1900s, consideration was not given to travelers with mobility. All trolleys have steps into the trolley, and some have additional interior steps. However, in 2020 the museum purchased an adapted Mobilift to help our guests with mobility issues access some of the trolleys in our collection. Two of these trolleys will be operating this season: Wheeling, WV 639 and Boston Elevated 5821. If you or a member of your group would like to use the Mobilift to access the trolleys operating on our railroad, please call in advance to let us know (207-967-2800 x113) so we can have the trolley and Mobilift ready for you upon your arrival.

Seashore Trolley Museum follows the Center for Disease Control’s protocols for Cleaning and Disinfecting Facilities, available at: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/community/disinfecting-building-facility.html

Museum Volunteers and/or employees will sanitize equipment used by guests on our railway with EPA registered products before and after each trip, paying particular attention to high-touch surfaces. Barriers will be placed inside trolleys to prevent guests from accessing the full car to make cleaning easier between trips.

Restrooms will be available inside our Visitors Center and will be cleaned and disinfected multiple times a day by Museum employees with EPA registered products. The time they were last cleaned and disinfected will be posted on a sign on the restroom door.

Picnic tables are also available on-site if you choose to bring a picnic to enjoy on campus, at your own risk. Disinfectant wipes will be available from the Museum Store employee. We ask all guests disinfect their picnic table before and after use and place used wipes in the trash receptacle in front of the Visitors Center.

Antique trolley is parked alongside Tower C, a historic artifact built in 1901 from the Boston Elevated Railway.

Take a ride on trolleys preserved in the world’s first and largest transit collection of its kind.

If you or a guest in your group can answer “yes” to the following questions, we ask that you postpone your visit the Museum at this time. If you have already purchased tickets, we will be happy to transfer your tickets to another day, and no extra fees will be charged.

  • Have you had a cough or sore throat within the past 14 days?
  • Have you had a fever or do you feel feverish?
  • Do you have shortness of breath?
  • Do you have a loss of taste or smell?
  • Have you been around anyone exhibiting these symptoms within the past 14 days?
  • Are you living with anyone who is sick or quarantined?

Seashore Trolley Museum is open because we have successfully completed Maine’s State Checklist. This allows us to operate during the pandemic.

By purchasing tickets at this time, you and all guests in your group accept and agree to adhere to our COVID-19 policies as written. Policies may change as the state of our Museum and Maine change. Review our most up-to-date COVID-19 policies, here
