Member’s Day and Open House

August 29

Participate in our 2020 Member’s Day and Open House on August 29th from 10:00AM-5:00PM. Admission will be free for ALL members and ALL guests!

At this point in the season we have honored a lot of groups; Mom’s, Dad’s, Veterans and so on. We love our members, and this is the day we set aside to show it! It’s a great day to become a member, too! On Member’s Day we bring out many classic trolleys that may only get out in the sun this single day each year. It is not uncommon to see Mass Transit vehicles lumbering around the railroad this one day a year.

It is also a day when members are more likely to get to connect with each other. Members come and go, day in and day out all season but they may never bump in to each other. Here is a day purpose built for getting together and connecting with each other. Catching up on current events. Or even what has gone on over the past months or years. This is an occasion to assemble the entire Seashore family for a reunion of sorts.

A  detailed schedule of events will be posted as we approach the event date.
Until then, here is a taste of what we have planned:

  • Members Only rides on special fleet cars! The special fleet line up is currently Boston 396, Toronto 2890, Montreal 2, Manchester 38, City of Manchester,  Atlantic Shore Line 100, and the Boston Blue Line 0600s!
  • FREE BAM (Become a Motorman) classes for Members, 18+! Signups will be posted online one week prior to the event. Check back on this page in October for details.
  • Pump car rides!Full Trolley at Member's Day and Open House
  • Book sale!
  • Educational Workshops!
  • Behind the Scenes Tours!
  • And so much more!

That’s quite a list! Part of the -“and so much more”- is the chance to enjoy one of our Back Story Tours!  Presented by Doug Carrier, these tours will provide a much more in-depth examination of various exhibits and the stories behind them. For over 20 years Doug has relished the opportunity educate and bring the collection to life by relating stories from the past. One of many cars in our collection with a storied past is Car 41. Car 41 was used as a diner after its service days. Did you know that Whitey Bulger was punched in the face by the diner’s owner? This tour will include, South Boston, Highwood, Central, Fairview, Restoration shop and yards such as Bennett yard. Not all of these locations are open to the public during normal operations. Buses are included for those who have an interest in that aspect of our collection.
