All Women Crew Day!
All Women Crew Day is one way the Museum highlights the continued role women have played throughout its history. This applies to transit history in general and Maine in specific over the course of the State’s first 200 years. In recognition of their contribution, Seashore Trolley Museum is proud to present our second completely All Women Crew Day! On Saturday, August 22nd, our conductors, motormen, and even the dispatcher will all be women! We hope you can join us and celebrate #WomenInHistory!
As we celebrate the role of women in transit and at Seashore in specific the Museum is encouraging even greater participation. Special (shorter) Become A Motorman (B.A.M.) classes will be offered throughout the day. All women with paid admission tickets who would like the opportunity to learn how to operate a trolley can take advantage. We hope that women who take advantage of this abbreviated training will pursue this role further. There are many other opportunities at the Museum as well. If you try operating and find it interesting but not compelling consider many other opportunities available at Seashore. There are needs in the Visitor’s Center, Buildings and Grounds and the Restoration Shop to name a few.
All Women Crew Day is something, along with many other opportunities here, we would like to see grow. Please consider being a part of this exciting period in the 80 year timeline of the Seashore Trolley Museum. We hope to see you in August!
